The day has come when we all have to take responsibility, control and rid our body of all toxins, fat and everything that makes us sick. To free ourselves from all the addictive foods and toxins, we all should fast at least once a year preferably twice a year.

How can you clean a house without taking out the garbage first? Well it's not possible? Your body will not easily let you get rid of the fat on your butt, belly and thighs without cleaning out the toxins and acidity. Since it is your body's job to keep all the bad stuff away from your vital organs like heart, lungs and kidneys, it moves it as far away from them as possible. Logically, they end up in your fat cells, which get bigger and bigger. Can anybody say Cellulite?

Your brain also tells you to eat more, since the available space to store toxins is limited (fat cells). To make more space for fat and toxins, your body creates more fat cells so it has more storage space. To protect YOU from harm, your body keeps fat cells full. This means that if you don't detoxify your body and fast, you will have a hard time getting rid of fat. Just think of the feeling when you move into your newly built home, it's clean, organized and it flows easily. Is it not a great feeling if everything is clean and fresh? YES it is! That's why your body will work better, function effortlessly and heal itself on a juice fast. Losing weight will be so much easier if you rid your body from toxins and then start a whole-food lifestyle and exercise program. (light exercise during a juice fast is OK and safe)

  1. What juicer to buy, is always an interesting question, and it really depends on you and what you are going to use the juicer for. Please refer do my video page "How to pick the right a juicer"
  2. You probably wonder, why can't you use some of the shelved juices that claim to be fresh and organic? Let me say this, try to juice an apple or carrot and leave it out for a couple of days. Does that juice look fresh and nutritious to you? I didn't think so. Store bought juices do not store well at all, they have been pasteurized to stay "fresh" plus have chemicals additives added to them sometimes. Fasting is a detox, so why in the world would you add more chemicals to the "pot"? This is why there is nothing comparable to freshly juiced fruits and vegetables. They are rich in vitamins, minerals and building blocks for your body. And yes, it is safe for children to drink freshly juiced vegetable/fruit juices daily. Two to four ounces are enough for kids. I started my boys early on juice, they were about two years old. You can dilute the juice with spring water for children if you like.
  3. You should have some herbal teas on hand and some natural supplements to help your kidney and liver detox.
  4. The other thing I recommend is an enema kit. Longer Fasts should not be attempted without an enema kit.
  5. Vegetables and some fruits for juicing - greens, carrots, oranges, lemon, celery, apples, beets, etc.

You know now that fasting is not starving. Fasting is the abstinence from solid food and addictive substances like alcohol, coffee and drugs for a specific time. This is for therapeutic maybe even for religious purposes. Fasting will support your body by resting your digestive system. Do you know why this is so important? Now that you are fasting, your body can use the energy (calories) you are getting by juice fasting to use elsewhere in your system to heal and repair "stuff". Everybody is fasting everyday. Are you aware, that you are indeed fasting ones a day for a couple of hours? While you are resting and dreaming about butterflies at night, your body is fasting and nourishing your body from within. Every-Body knows how to fast because our genes are programed to fast every night. While your are sleeping your body goes to work and cleans and detoxifies your body and repairs stuff. 
I hear it too often: "Fasting is just unnatural". Actually, it is very natural, and everybody is programed to fast. Don't be intimidated by the word "Fasting", fasting does not mean starving or hunger. Fasting will give you more vitamins and minerals, then you ever took in with eating! When you feel sad? Maybe after a fight with your spouse? You have to be very careful, this tends to lead to food addiction very quickly. After you ate, you will feel definitely worse than before. Please don't try to numb your feelings with food, it never works. Actually, it does, for a couple of minutes. Realizing you just ate a box of cookies will also lead to resentment and anger. Taking a walk and clearing your mind or having an open discussion will make more sense and does not harm your body. 
  • When you feel under lots of pressure? When you feel stressed out? The stuff we eat when we feel stressed out, does pack a punch! Sugar, Fat and often Flour... Something that will help with stress situations is saying STOP! Breathe for a couple of minutes and take a brake from everything. Taking a couple of minutes to yourself and listen to calmin music can make you feel so much better. My number one tip on dealing with stress is cleaning. Start cleaning your house! Frustration and stress just seems to melt away. A nice cup of hot herbal tea is alway a very healthy solution. 
  • When you go out for dinner with friends? Or at a dinner party? The best approach is: take your time. Don't try to eat everybody under the table, it's never a good idea trying to keep up with your husband or other people, period. Take your time eating, put the fork and knife down ones in a while and chew thoroughly. It takes about 20 - 30 minutes for your brain to realize that you had food and you are indeed full. Eating slower means eating less!
  • When you're bored? While watching TV? Ask yourself, is it really hunger or is it a void you are trying to fill. Eating should be done consciously and never while doing something else. Without realizing you can eat a whole bag of chips with dip and consume a belly busting load of calories in one sitting.  If you watch TV, then watch TV. Being bored is a big problem in North America, people have to much time on their hands. Get a hobby, go work out, read my e-book (LOL), paint or bake with the kids. Just don't sit down and eat while watching some depressing talk show. Engaging in negative TV can make you depressed and eat more!
  • When you feel without energy? It is a misconception to think that a big bar of chocolate will make you more alert or give you much needed energy, in the contrary, eating sugar laden foods gives you a insulin high for a short time but as fast as the high came the faster you crash and burn. It's a never ending circle of sugar high and low. This is never a good idea if you need to lose weight. Stabilizing your blood sugar is the main goal. Whole foods  will give you perfect blood sugar levels for energy and weight loss. Plus, usually if you think your hungry most of the time it's just thirst.

    These days, as research mounts regarding the health benefits of eating plenty of fresh fruits and veg, people are rediscovering juicing for health and prevention.
    Juicing has many different meanings and purposes for so many people. For some, squeezing some fresh fruits and veg through a juicer and extracting a glassful of pure bliss of a vitamin-packed pulpy nectar of pleasure and health, is the only way to get the recommended serving of fruits and veg everyday. Others are used to juicing as a way of getting more of those hard to get carotenoids and flavonoids a healing compound that experts believe can fight some of the major diseases like cancer and of course heart disease. Well, and there is the other group, this group of people see juicing as a century old way to cleanse the body of toxins, boost immunity. They also use it to prevent and treat variety of diseases like vitamin deficiency, arthritis and obesity. 


    Fasting should never be seen as a quick fix solution to obesity! Fasting CAN be a life changing experience, when done right can lead you to a place, I like to call "over the rainbow" It's a state of wellbeing, clear head and a symptom free body. Wouldn't you like to be free of disease, free of flab and be able to think clearly without mood swings? All of this is possible with juice fasting.     You probably think, yeah right Monika, what kind of snakes oil are you selling? I'm not selling you anything but you probably spend to much on anti aging creams already, am I right? It's the same thing in every commercial, buy our cream and you will look younger.

    Yes it is true, you can make a little change with creams and serums but is it really going to make you look 10 to 15 years younger? Not very likely.

    One thing I can bet my shirt on is this. Change your lifestyle and see the result. What would you pay to look 10 to 15 years younger without creams, gimmicks and no pain or recovery? To see real changes, all you need is 8 - 12 weeks. In the summer, you could be looking in the mirror and see your younger sister or your baby brother.

    How am I going to do that, you ask? It is soooo easy if you follow this rule! "Don't live life like a young person, love your life like a smart and mature one!" Now you think, how does that make sense? Let me explain. Most young people eat like crap, smoke, don't care about their health and go party all night and stay up all night. Now the smart mature people who love themselves, will start respecting their bodies. Respecting your body and loving your life means eating nutritious food, not smoking, little or no alcohol, exercise and lots of sleep. If you can add a healthy relationship, you are set.
